Your driver will pick up from hotel & drive by a Tuk Tuk to Ehhelagala Village, a beautiful rural area in Sigiriya city. Tour start with a Bullock cart ride near to the village pond & at there you will experience a Catamaran boat ride to the next side of the rural village. After short walk within the paddy fields & vegetable cultivation you can reach village house. At the village house, one village woman show you cooking demonstration on traditional Sri Lankan cooking. Then you can relax & taste a delicious Sri Lankan Lunch or Snacks. Then take a Tuk tuk ride to tour start point or to your hotel.

When you visit the great ‘Sigiriya rock’ A fortress that stand up in the wildness. Where once upon a time, an aesthetic king built his hideway to rule his kingdom. Even today – Sigiriya stands like a sentinel in the sky. your experience begins the village called ‘Ehelagala’, a beautiful rural area in Sigiriya city. Tuk tuk transfer gives you a good chance to experience the natural breeze and take photos of the attractions alongside the road.

Bullock cart is the first vehicle in Sri lanka. In the past once famous mode of transport of local royalty. Today this vehicle have become coordinating between the past and present. Usually this 2.5 hour trek begins with a Bullock Cart Ride to Ehelagala through unbeaten village tracks. It adjacent to the great ‘Sigiriya rock’. You can ride the bullock cart in gravel path becomes the dust, red soil of a bund. There are 2 Bulls dragging the cart and ride last long from 15 minutes. You might see some animals & birds , in the jungle. In the distance and the seemingly endless expanse of cool, cool green. Meander along the grassy bank of the picturesque ehelagala for a truly satisfying birding experience. Rides ends near the Lake.
Catamaran Boat Ride takes place on the Ehelagala lake. You will cruise admiring the amazing views besides the lake which is also overlooking the Sigiriya and Pidurangala rocks. That was an amazing scenery. We never forgot to take some photos of that beautiful scenery. At the same time, we saw few Sri Lankan birds were sitting on the trees & branches.
If you are interested in, you can also join with the Boatman and help out rowing the boat. While the catamaran ride boatman plucked both fresh lotus flowers & lotus leaves from the lake, you might surprise with his craftsmanship and creativity. After seeing lotus garlands & nice hats of lotus leaves we were very much impressed. With a nice loving smile, he put those hats on gentleman heads and a beautiful necklace around ladies neck. At the end of the Tour Boat will dock by the small village on the other side of the shore.
You can observe a traditional daily live of a real village house. Should not miss a visit to the paddy field, See a garden where endemic vegetable grown. Climb the tree house next to the paddy field where farmers sleeps at night and try to keep animals away from the paddy.
One village woman who wears redda & hatte (Traditional dress of Sri Lanka) , warmly greeted us with a nice smile saying, ‘AYUBOWAN’!
She gave you a half an hour cooking demonstration on traditional Sri Lankan cooking. You can also see how a village woman cook a traditional meal or a roti. She Shows how to make a roof out of coconut leaves and how to use kulla and mirisgala to separate rice seeds from the husks and straw. You can also try those items. You can enjoy a simple traditional meal prepared by a village woman the using the Farmer’s hand-picked vegetables from the plot.
Your lunch was served in a buffet style, rice with 5-6 traditionally cooked Sri Lankan curries and fresh fried fish in clay pots. Also you can taste desserts like fresh fruits and local cookies. Remarkable experience is lunch served on top of clean lotus leaves.
After having your delicious Sri Lankan snack with a herbal drink or lunch you can spent your time over there.
At the end of the village tour you will be taking a Tuk-Tuk ride few-miles back to the main road- Habarana.
Then you will be drop to your hotel.
